Maggie Spike’s Whereabouts
January 2009
MAGGIE SPIKE is getting ready to release our new cd, “Sol Paradise” in June 2009. We have an updated gig schedule and will update this website in the near future. MAGGIE SPIKE continues to perform and support The Half Moon Cafe in Oley, our own “home-grown, grassroots arts center” (thank you Dolores, Mike, Kathy and the gang!).
We have chosen the cd artwork (a beautiful painting by Bonnie Wren!) and are anxiously waiting our cd proofs for final printing. A BIG THANK YOU to Bruce & Jack and all the wonderful musicians whose talents have helped to shape our new art project. We appreciate all the effort on your behalf and hope you will enjoy the finished project. We will update this website soon with new artwork, photos, samples of our music, and yes, you will be able to purchase our cds on-line..it’s taken us time to catch up with the 21st century!. Look at our Gigs Page for our upcoming CD Release Party!
Some of the venues we played at this past year included The Reading Public Museum, Trooper Thorn’s Irish Beefhouse, Celtic Myth & Moonlight, The Historic Pleasantville Hotel (now called The Bridge Inn), The Summit Bar and Grille, Longswamp Township Park, Berks County Parks & Recreation and a wine festival at the Manatawny Creek Winery. Maggie Spike is also featured at community events and celebrations such as John Paul II 25th Anniversary Celebration and The Ronald McDonald House Summer Camp’s Fundraiser at The Somerset Nursery (Zionsville, PA). We returned to the Manatawny Creek Winery, and we performed at our first horse show at Ludwig Corner’s Annual Horse Show & Country Fair.
Peggy (”Maggie”) just recently performed live with Bruce Siekmann and his band, DEM HILLS at their cd release party. Bruce assembled over thirty musicians in his new cd, “The Rhumba Mystery”. You can learn more about Bruce (we record at his studio, Amoeba Studios in Fleetwood, PA) at www.demhills.com.
Please view our photo page and see a caricature of MISS MAGGIE SINGS! (too much fun!). MISS MAGGIE is Maggie’s children’s persona. She performs regularly at The Crayola Factory (Easton),has performed at area community events such as the Boyertown YMCA’s annual Easter Egg Hunt (200 kiddies!), area elementary schools such as Longswamp, Cumru, Thomas Ford & others, and continues performing at area daycare centers and preschools. MISS MAGGIE is perfoming her one-woman shows, “Stay Healthy With Miss Maggie” and “Catch The Reading Bug” at area day care centers and elementary schools and community events. She had performed at Chaplin’s Music Cafe (Spring City, PA) for their Chaplin’s Kids Series. You can view her interview on “Comcast Tonight” (Comcast Cable TV) on her website. She’s also busy writing a new show for the Public Library’s “Get Creative At Your Local Library” series this summer. Please see MISS MAGGIE’S website, www.missmaggiesings.com to learn more about her!
We would like to extend special thanks to everyone for supporting us and we look forward to seeing everyone soon. Please feel free to post your comments on our website. Also, if you know of any venues you’d like to see us play at, please let us know. We’d love to hear from you!!! Many thanks…
Peggy (”Maggie”) and Eric (”Spike”)
